HOW TO TELL IF YOUR HIKE IS SMOKY, WINDY, ETC.
On our website’s Home Page, scroll down, to access four ways to assure your hike is not Smokey, windy or poor weather conditions
The four websites are as follows:
Item 1 shows you all you need to know about the air quality index and wind direction.
Item 2. USFS Incident Report Website. Here you can find specifics on fires n our region.
Item 3. Windy.com will inform you on wind directions, particulate matter in the air, and the speed of the wind in your chosen hiking area.
Item 4-7 Above the HOURLY WEATHER GRAPH are satellite images.
On the right is the AIRMASS RGB image. It is enlarged below to see details better.
During fire season, you can see up to date images on where the fires are located and which direction the plumes are blowing.
But even with this information, it’s always wise to call the Ranger Station associated with your hike.
You can find the Ranger’s phone numbers on each hike’s write up.
Always asked about road closures related to your desired hike.
With the above websites, you can see up to date info on all weather, fire, closures, related to the outings you want to do.
Before hiking season get here, practice on the above websites usability.
They are somewhat complicated, but with a bit of practice, you can learn how to determine if conditions are right for your hike.
The reason I’ve listed these websites, is to avoid fires on your travel routes, during your hike.

This way, we can be assured of your accuracy.
These recipes can be main dishes, desserts, potluck dishes, and anything else you want to submit.
