DAVID CRAFTON
I was born and raised at the base of the Sierra Nevada's. I've been hiking, climbing, skiing and peak bagging in those mountains since my late teen's. In my twenties I guided mountaineering trips in all seasons: Fall climbing in Yosemite, Winter snow and ice travel in the Desolation Wilderness, and in Spring we would put it all together and bag Shasta.
I moved to the Pacific North West after college because it is centrally located and within an easy day drive to many locations: The Puget Sound, Cascades, Canadian Rockies, Glacier, etc. not to mention I live on a river. I hike, kayak and mountain bike out my front door, and the best part is I live in town just below the snow line.
My climbing resume includes summiting Half Dome x2, Lower Cathedral Spire, Cathedral Peak, Shasta and Mt. Baker. I've climbed the first seven pitches on the Nose of El' Capitan and I led trad climbs throughout the valley up to 11b.
I've done 10 days in the Bob Marshall and two weeks overland through the Highest Sierras all unsupported.
Chic and I have been to a few places that I think a lot of others would enjoy if they knew where they were and how to get there. My goal is to get as much information out of our heads and onto this website in an effort to inspire others to spend time in the mountains.
The mountains are my church that heals my hurts.
