DESCRIPTION:
NW Trailhead at F.R. #9565
The first thing you will notice about this trail is the great rock walls and outcroppings. The trail drops down and crosses Deadman Creek on a nice footbridge before it starts its climb up and over a high point of about 3740 verts. This high point is almost 1.5 miles from the trailhead, and about a mile to Emerald Lake. In about 2 miles along Trail #1, there is a view of Lily Lake about 500 verts below. Also near the 2 mile mark, is the junction down to Emerald Lake, which is a bit more then .5 miles away.
Altho the lake isn’t deep, it’s beautiful in it’s setting in Hoodoo Canyon.
SOUTH Trailhead at F.R. #070
THE SOUTH TRAIL HAS BEEN REPAIRED.
From the Trout Lake Campground, hike the south section of Trail #17, NW around the right (east) side of Trout Lake for about a mile to Emerald Lake.
