CHIC'S STORY
Since I was young I’ve hiked and explored areas around where ever I lived.
In 1979, I joined the Spokane Astronomical Society, and led most the Star Parties for schools and parks.
In 1984, I joined the Spokane Mountaineers, and led all kinds of trips, like hiking, biking, paddling, climbing, backcountry skiing to include avalanche awareness, and more.
In 1990, I went to work at the Camera Corral, and led 21 years of Photo Fun Days, three times a year, for our customers.
About this same time, I organized a public program with the NIC OUTDOOR PURSUITS called BACKCOUNTRY SAFETY, that lasted for 12 years, and taught thousands the basics and advanced backcountry travel.
All this time, I always wanted to write a coffee table picture book. But after sending some transparency to my publisher, I found out the first of three batches would cost over 36,000$.
Then one day, after a trail maintenance outing at Lone Lake near Stevens Peak, I met David Crafton.
As we talked at the trailhead picnic table, David told me of a website he was building.
That night, I looked up his website, and a light bulb went off in my head.
A few days later, I contacted David with a proposition. He said no. But that didn’t stop me.
After much arm twisting and effort, I got David to agree to explore the idea of creating a website on human powered sports in our region.
This website you see today, is the fruit of our cooperation .
Today, what you see on InlandNWRoutes.com, was started in the summer of 2018, with thousands of hours doing research, building the website, and filling in each write up.
But our work is not done.
We are constantly altering or adding new sections, new information, and a lot more images.
Most recently, I added the phone number of the Sheriff’s departments associated with each write up. This will allow anyone to contact emergency services if they are truly needed, in a timely manner.
Also, a recent addition was a GALLERY section. This section is to show the images that were not included in each write ups. Our goal was to show our readers the beauty of our region.
Another new section is RECIPE. We encourage you to send us your most favorite dishes.
We have a CONTACT FORM that anyone can use to communicate with us.
I encourage you to contact us about any subject on our website.
I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you, we have made a few errors in setting this website up.
But the cool thing about our website, over a guidebook, is that we can edit any incorrect, or newly changed circumstances as soon as we research their authenticity.
Our HOME PAGE was getting too cluttered, so I cleaned it up.
Then I looked into doing a BLOG.
David set it up and we both started contributing.
As the seasons change, we will write about the next seasons issues and suggest ideas to make them more enjoyable.
Under RESOURCES, you can find all kinds of information on what you need to know, before you venture out into Nature.
David and I would like to thank you very much for being our readers, and hope your journeys into Nature are pleasant, and fulfilling.
