BLOG #92 PLEASE PUT OUT YOUR OR OTHERS CAMPFIRES

PLEASE EVERYONE, READ THIS BLOG AND ACT TODAY.

A few days ago, I was up at the Stevens Lakes Trail #165, working on a water diversion trench, about .4 of a mile up from the trailhead. As hikers came down the trail, I engaged them to see how their hike went. Two different groups of people, told me that they found smoldering campfire.

LEAVING YOUR CAMPFIRE, OF ANY SIZE, SMOLDERING, IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

There is an easy, light weight, inexpensive, and REAL IMPORTANT thing EACH HIKER must have and do.

If you have a fire, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to extinguish it 100%.
(If you don’t, Smoky Bear will give you a bear hug until you pop, or poop.)
How would you feel if you learned that your campfire burned down a forest? Wouldn’t it be a shame to learn Stevens Lakes, Harrison Lake, Moose Lake and Mountain, or Leigh Lake, was charred black because you didn’t properly put out your fire?

The solution is so easy and it could save our local forest.
Go by a Grocery Outlet or Dollar Tree store and buy 5-8 plastic grocery bags. They only weigh 6 grams each, and can scoop up about 1.5 gallons of water, to extinguish your or others carelessly left campfire.
And putting out smoldering campfires, isn’t there only use. You can be a hero and pack out your or others trash. You could use it to collect human and dog waste, to pack out.

Our Forests are in need of each of us to step up and protect our beautiful places.
PLEASE, fold up your bags up, and put them in a snack size ziplock, and put them in your packs, TODAY.
This simple act, could save a forest. And you could be a HERO.
